PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Educators need access to diverse professional development opportunities. Certificate programs, book clubs and information technology offerings all serve to improve pedagogy and student learning in the classroom.

HEALTH & SAFETY

On the heels of an unprecedented pandemic, it is important to closely monitor the recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics, Center for Disease and Control and the Taunton Department of Public Health. These recommendations are specific to our environment and suggested in order to maintain the health and safety of our school community

EDUCATION REFORM

The essence of education is exploratory. We should always be looking for better ways to impact teaching and learning. Students and families are constantly watching to determine if leadership is consistent with who they say they are. The District mission in action will dictate its commitment level.

PUBLIC PLATFORM

I have three children, two school aged who have attended Taunton Public Schools, one of which is in his senior year of high school. I am a volunteer on the Taunton SEPAC board, with many years of parent volunteering. I have a vested interest in the success of our schools. I am a high school teacher with a tremendous passion for education. I have had a unique journey in education as a single parent and can give voice to that perspective. One of the most rewarding aspects of being an educator is seeing students realize their fullest potential. Students learn in multiple ways and we need to meet them where they are and help them to find success.

As a member of the school committee, I would fight to ensure that every student is equipped with the proper tools, resources, and opportunities to maximize their potential. Functionally, this manifests in several ways. School committee members must support school leaders, teachers and staff who always consider the student experience first before all other priorities. The culture of the schools are reflected in the school leadership—leaders who are collaborative, diverse and knowledgeable will inspire staff and students to do their best. Leadership that is cooperative and innovative will model for our students the way to reach their highest potential in how they learn and how they engage with others.

I am immensely passionate about education and the well-being of children,  my professional career has consistently reflected this. Before transitioning into teaching, I worked at Raynham-Taunton Pediatrics, providing care to local families for over 16 years.  Investing in our youth, public service workers, and community is essential. It is my top priority to ensure that each student is served in the best capacity based on their individual needs; understanding that providing support to our school employees is the foundation for student success.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve. Serving in this capacity is a great way for me to give back to the community what it has given me over the years. I am excited to envision working with parents, schools and students to continue building a strong school district and community. The students of  Taunton never cease to amaze me in their intelligence, enthusiasm and creativity. We owe it to our students to model a community with windows and mirrors  that works hard to set and meet goals together. It is only through support and trust that we can all rise up together to raise healthy, happy and successful children who are well prepared for their bright futures ahead. Please vote for me, together I can be your voice, it’s time for change. Thank you.
